The Compaq/Digital Alpha is a 64-bit RISC CPU. Linux/Alpha was the first non-x86 port for SBCL. It was done by taking the existing (though unmaintained) CMUCL Alpha backend and shoehorning it into SBCL, then reinstating the Stop and Copy GC that non-x86 CMUCL ports use, and learning a lot about Signal Handling.

SBCL has supported compiling for the Alpha since 0.6.12.something (first released version 0.6.13).
